The latter album’s title track subsequently became Brazil’s best-selling single of 2001 and featured a spread of Brazilian celebrities in its popular music video. In 2000, Sangalo issued the platinum-selling album “Beat Beleza”, followed by her greatest album success to date, “Festa”, in 2001. Marked by its Bahian rhythms and seductive lyricism, the record secured double-Platinum certification and a Latin Grammy nomination. In 1997 Sangalo went solo, later releasing her debut, self-titled album in 1999. ![]() The singer released six albums with the group, selling over four-million records and raising her reputation to household status. Following her debut show in Ondina, Salvador in 1992, which earned the singer the revered Dorival Caymmi Award, Sangalo was chosen as the lead singer of the revamped Axé group Banda Eva.
